Hosted by the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) in Philadelphia, PA from June 3-6, 2019, BIO 2019 is an international convention for biotech and pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers, and related organizations to mix, mingle, and interact. Representing more than 8,400 companies, over 17,000 attendees from 65 countries were present. Attending companies spanned a wide range – from industry giants like Merck, Roche, and J&J to rising stars such as Anavex, GlycoMimetics, and ASLAN Pharmaceuticals. With 1,800 exhibitors, 250 company presentations, 800 speakers and much more, there was plenty for the Brandsymbol team to take in and gain from a professional and a personal perspective.
With so many attendees and opportunities to network comes the satisfaction of seeing the time, effort, and money spent to send our team to BIO result in a higher level of industry exposure for Brandsymbol…and hopefully a few new client-agency partnerships along the way. There’s no doubt that handing out business cards, shaking a lot of hands, and making many, many friendly introductions helped us introduce our agency to many new people…but the bigger takeaway for us from BIO is learning more about our clients to help us gain a better understanding of their branding needs to propel their important work forward.
BIO 2019 enabled attendees to become more acquainted with the incredible industry in which they work and the amazing people they work with…there’s nothing better than finally putting a face to the name of a person you’ve collaborated with on a project. That opportunity is not only rewarding on its own; it also allows for connecting on a deeper level which furthers the client-agency relationship we strive to improve every day.
For the Brandsymbol team, BIO 2019 was an exceptional experience… and BIO 2020 is sure to be even better. We hope to see you in San Diego!
