Brands Capitalizing on Thanksgiving This Year

Plenty of brands go all out for the holidays; the time of year that features Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and many more is perfect for companies to show some spirit and connect with consumers.

However, despite being all about coming together with others, many brands seem to forget about Thanksgiving. Plenty of companies like to create ornaments or other festive décor, but it seems like the turkey and stuffing always get left out of the fun.

But that seems to be changing! In what has been a hectic year, two brands are bringing some cheer to turkey day, and they’re doing it in incredibly unique ways.

Whole Foods is Offering Turkey “Insurance” []

It’s happened to all of us: everyone has taken their seat at the table only to smell the unmistakable scent of turkey burning. This cooking mishap can derail the entire day, but this year it might not have to.

Whole Foods has teamed up with Progressive Insurance to create a “Thanksgiving Turkey Protection Plan,” which will cover you in the event of any disasters in the kitchen. To qualify for this insurance plan, which offers failed cooks a $35 Whole Foods gift card, you need to purchase a Whole Foods-branded turkey either in-store or on Amazon between now and November 22nd. Should your turkey cooking go terribly wrong, you can place your claim on Thanksgiving of the following day. The first 1,000 people to place a claim will receive a gift card.

Campbell’s Has Your Side Dishes Covered []

While Whole Foods is covering the centerpiece for most Thanksgiving meals, Campbell’s Soup Company feels that side dishes aren’t getting their due. To fix this, Campbell’s is introducing their own free “Dinner Insurance,” which will deliver “gourmet dishes” to their door if they submit a photo of their cooking failures.

The replacement sides they’re offering include stuffing, baked brie, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole. Whether the potatoes are too runny or the stuffing is hard as a rock, Campbell’s can even get those insured a replacement on the same day if they place their claim between 12 and 5 PM (EST) on Thanksgiving Day. Unfortunately, the service is only available in Manhattan this year, but it’s still a great way for Campbell’s to raise their brand awareness and give back to the community a bit.

Whole Foods and Campbell’s have shown us with these “insurance policies” that there are effective and kind ways to raise brand awareness during the Thanksgiving season. Both plans give back to the community in one way or another, all while gaining good publicity for their respective brands.
